Gifts for One Year Olds

Kate Patch | 07 April, 2021

Gift Ideas for First birthdays in Australia.

I love first birthdays. They are a sweet celebration of a little person and all that they are to become. We celebrate their personalities, we put thought into the childhood adventure that really truly begins and we also have a special place in our hearts for the mums and dads who have just witnessed the first year and who are most likely to have a big ol cry the night before as they kiss their little one's head goodnight.

I have put together a list of special, some quirky, sweet and fun, but all Australian small business gift ideas that will be a keepsake but also a celebration of your little one.
Something to read, to wear, need and want. This concept may be familiar to to you already but it truly does help in narrowing down from the oodles of options and can be a good system for all birthdays. For this blog I will break it down into these categories (with a few bonuses) to make this easy.

Something To Read
~ Oh Baby, The Year you were Born (LINK)
This book is for the babies having their first birthdays in 2021. It may be a little for the mamas too. 2020 was a very different year for mamas to  have their little ones born. Mums group, park hangs, visitors and the normal "village" disappeared. This book will resonate with every mother who experienced it. It is full of many  familiar scenes appropriate to 2020. For a babies though they knew the slow and comforting home days with their parents.

~ 50 Questions, Birth Until 18 Years Journal
This Journal is not a baby book but instead a childhood journal. Every year around your child's birthday you set time to sit down with your child and ask them the same 50 questions. Your child will look forward to this every year but not only that you get to watch how much their big life goals and their everyday funny things change. What a great birthday tradition to start! You will find this journal linked HERE

Gifts That Are Not Physical
You could also consider gifts that are not physical. Organising a photography session, swimming lesson gift voucher or even a zoo pass also make really great gifts.
I hope this was helpful. I loved popping this together even though I feel like there are still so many other small Australian business I could features. I know each of these business have beautiful ethics, are real families and all wear their hearts on their sleeves.
So much love,
Kate xx
